Standpipes, often called water stand pipes or open stand pipes, are used to monitor;

  • Hydrostatic water level.
  • Water level rise and drop with seasonal changes or with tidal changes.
  • The effectiveness of dewatering schemes.
  • Hydrostatic water level to calculate/determine excess pore water pressure of the designated soil layer or depth where in-situ pore water pressure measurements, such as, standpipe piezometers, pneumatic piezometers, pressure transducers & vibrating wire piezometers were installed (Standpipes need to be installed nearby pore water pressure measurements)
